Break for a Plate
Break for a Plate

Free, healthy summer meals for kids Break for a Plate is a federally-funded, state-administered program. It reimburses providers who serve free, healthy meals to children and teens age 18 and younger during summer months when school is not in session.

While many receive free and reduced meals during the school year, children need healthy food all year long.

This is a reimbursement program based on meals served. Program sites are deemed eligible based on USDA requirements as determined by the Alabama State Department of Education.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

IMPORTANT UPDATE – 8/11/2020: posted Aug 11, 2020, 1:57 PM by Matt Black

Due to large class sizes in 7th – 12th grade, PCSS will begin the 2020-2021 school year by instituting an A-B option for students in grades 7-12. The traditional, five day a week schedule for grades Pre-K-6 is still in effect. We continue to believe the best way to educate students is with effective in person instruction. Linked here is a calendar showing the student attendance schedule for grades 7-12 for the first 9 weeks of the school year. The A group will be attending primarily on Mondays and Tuesdays. The B group will be attending primarily on Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays will be alternating throughout the 9 weeks. Students’ whose last names begin with A-L will be Group A and M-Z will be Group B. We continue to thank you for your understanding as we navigate this constantly changing situation.
