About Pell City Schools:
Pell City Schools (PCS) serves over 4100 students who live within its attendance zone. These students and their families are represented by five Board of Education members selected by the Pell City City Council. Of these five members, two must reside in the attendance zone portion that falls outside the city limits, where many of our students live.
With over 500 employees and eight schools, PCS offers a rich educational experience for its students. Art and music are featured full-time in our elementary schools. Band is offered as early as sixth grade. Once a student reaches junior high and high school he or she has a multitude of opportunities for educational growth and persuing personal interests through Advanced Placement courses, dual enrollment courses, Career and Technical Education courses, sports, fine arts, organizations, and clubs. There is truly a place for every student to belong, contribute, and grow as an individual at Pell City Schools.
Our youngest learners begin at our dedicated Pre-K facility, The Legacy Center (led by Dr. Melissa Kelley). From there, students in Grades K-4 will attend one of four elementary schools based on their address: Coosa Valley Elementary School (led by Mrs. Jennifer Hannah), Eden Elementary School (led by Mrs. Tabitha Surles), Iola Roberts Elementary School (led by Mrs. Haley Williams), or Walter M. Kennedy Elementary School (led by Mrs. Tonya Helms). For Grades 5 and 6 students attend Williams Intermediate School (led by Mrs. Latoya Threatt). Grades 7 and 8 attend Duran Junior High School (led by Dr. Cory O’Neal). Finally, students in Grades 9-12 attend Pell City High School (led by Dr. Leah Stover).
